I have set my c compiler and c++ compiler to gcc, then entered the following,
you should set your directories to the aprpriate values:
./configure --prefix=/ss5/mysql/ --localstatedir=/ss5/mysql/data
--with-unix-socket-path=/ss5/mysql/mysql.sock
