Subject: new insallation of mysql not starting

I have just upgraded a mySQL installation on a Soalri 2.8 box for the source.
It compiled and installed without error.

The startup script redirect STDOUT & STDERR into /dev/null so this is what I
did ...

/usr/bin/mysqld_safe --datadir=/data/mysql-data/
--pid-file=/data/mysql-data/mysql.pid
Starting mysqld daemon with databases from /data/mysql-data/
STOPPING server from pid file /data/mysql-data/romulus.pid
 050429 11:19:13 mysqld ended

Anyone have any ideas what the code 050429 means?

And where are the log files?

Thanks

Andy
