Hello. I am a complete newbie here and to the world of Linux & MySQL. I am trying to create a LAMP server
I have installed RedHat Enterprise Linux AS 4 - update 2 on my server and it seems to work ok. I downloaded MySQL 5.0 and now want to install that .... I read somewhere that I need to remove rpm files from the server ... I think you can do this via add/remove programs in the RedHat Gui How do I install MySQL on the server. I have tried quite a few times but I can never seem to get access to the MYSQL> prompt ... I get some error about a socket connection ..... Is there any documentation available for installing MySQL 5.0 on to redhat ..?
