Thanks for replying to the email.
Actually i have done locate my.cnf and cannot find he file. 
I am sure this file do not exist on mine VPS.
I wanted to know that is it OK to add an entry into /etc/rc.d/rc.local as
/usr/local/mysql/bin/mysqld_safe & .
Also now i cannot write mysqldump without the path .
I mean has the installation of mysql been awry.
Pl. do help me.
