I tried this and it still didn't work!

mysql> grant super privileges on *.* to 'untz'@'localhost' identified

ERROR 1064 (42000): You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the
manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right
syntax to use near 'privileges on *.* to 'untz'@'localhost'
identified by 'maddog'' at line 1
mysql>

You have to be logged-in to mysql as a privileged user to grant
permissions to others.
Logout, and login as root.
