help please

hello all:

how can i run multiple instances of mysql server? i also looked
at mysqld_multi but i guess there is a problem with that too. 
here is the error what it gave:

ABORT: Bad GNR: mysql2 See mysqld_multi --help

i also defined GNR in /etc/my.cnf

Any idea why the error?
