Anyways, you're right - you'd need to configure the dead master to become a slave of the new master. In order to do so, you need to now the binlog file and position the new master had before getting the VIP. You'd need to check the binlogs. By having both MySQL replicating from each other, you'd avoid this. Make sure you do "reply all" instead of replying only to me :-) Manuel.
