Thank you for your response but in mySQL we don't have all column types for
all needs as MySQL only provides basic types and no complex types (times
series, lines...).
I've developped a plug-in product
(SQLSpatial -http://barth.netliberte.org/sqlspatial) that enables the
management of spatial data on many DBMS (including MySQL !). It provides new
columns types and I was wondering if there was way to create an official
"MySQL contrib" to include these new types, but as I was expecting, there's
not. Nevertheless, my product works well without this and I don't think I
will try to create a patch.

If you mean column types then no, you can't but i think
