Did you quote the names? And did they contain any of the illegal
characters discused in
http://www.mysql.com/doc/L/e/Legal_names.html ?
I wonder why ˙ is not allowed in names. The only special thing about
that character is that it has a special meaning in telnet, but that
can hardly be relevant, can it?
