Trevor, Thanks for the tip...This is probably what I should have done in the first place. I can't now though, at least not at the moment, this is a Cobalt RAQ4 web server set up at a hosting service in Atlanta, GA.
I went ahead and used a symlink at the compiled data directotry pointing back to a "roomier" /home directory.
