The suffix doesn't matter. But inside it there should be a plain text file in UNIX
format of newline chars.
To ensure that please do the following (suppose your "script" is called file.txt):
perl -n -e 's/\r//g;print;' < file.txt > file.sql
and then ...

... use that command with file.sql:
mysql < file.sql
Please don't forget to supply username and password for mysql client.
