I got mysql-3.23.47-sun-solaris2.8-sparc.tar from
mysql.com, then I untarred
it into /mysql.
Then I enter /mysql and did ls:
# ls
bin include scripts sql-bench
tests
data lib share
support-files
#
What should I do to set it up now? I entered
/mysql/bin and tried running
mysql, but get such an error message:
# mysql
ERROR 2002: Can't connect to local MySQL server
through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)
#
I don't get it.
