during the mysql_install_db.

Preparing tables_priv table
Preparing columns_priv table
Installing all prepared tables
Fatal error 'Can't create gc thread' at line ? in file
/usr/src/lib/libc_r/uthread/uthread_create.c (errno = ?)
Abort trap - core dumped
Installation of grant tables failed!
We've tried this on multiple hosts running 4.5, and received the same problem. On a
machine running 4.4, installation
works fine.

Get a machine with a new install (or cvsup'd install) of FreeBSD 4.5. Try installing
from ports.
