You can indicate MySQL server version using SELECT VERSION() statement or run mysqld (mysqld-max) with -V option. If MySQL server is installed from RPM you can uninstall it by rpm --uninstall <package_name> The following command will show you what rpm packages are installed: rpm -qa| grep -i mysql If MySQL server is installed from source or binary - you can uninstall it only manually.
