Check this out.  Sometimes I need to display dates to users.
DATE_FORMAT is neato way to process DATE columns into
more readable output (2002-03-12 for example, doesn't cut it
for me), but it prints out the date in English.

On a site that is presented in 5 different languages, this is
much less useful. Is there a way to switch to a particular language
only for this function or only for a specific session?

Just want to make sure I'm not duplicating any effort.
