Both gweMySQL and MM.MYSQL support Unicode-Nativecode conversion.
[gweMySQL Driver]

i.e.
String url = "jdbc:mysql://server:3306/dbname?characterEncoding=EUC_JP";
[MM.MYSQL Driver]
http://mmmysql.sourceforge.net/
