It's easy.  All you need on the PC end is MyODBC, downloadable at
http://www.mysql.com/downloads/api-myodbc-2.50.html .  Instructions on
how to set up a DSN and other questions is at
http://www.mysql.com/products/myodbc/faq_toc.html .
