I'm having a problem with MySQL 4.0.4-beta and 4.0.5-alpha (both -MAX) on RedHat
8.0. Here's the setup:

RedHat 8.0 (glibc-2.2.93-5)
   Kernel: 2.4.18-14
Apache 2.0.43 w/PHP 4.2.3
Mysql compiled into PHP using Mysql Libs:
# ldd /usr/lib/httpd/libphp4.so
libmysqlclient.so.11 => /usr/lib/libmysqlclient.so.11 (0x403f9000)

The problem is with mysql_connect (i suppose). When i use $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST']
as the host argument to mysql_connect(), the mysqld process segfaults (or so the
error log says). It says the process is hanging, then mysqld_safe kills it. (If
you don't know what $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'] is, it's the current website that php
script is on (like www.mysql.com)). Anyway, if i change the host argument to
127.0.0.1, it works fine.

Is there a known problem with this? What would cause this? Mybe something is out
of whack in PHP's implimentation of mysql_connect (on the tcp/ip side)? Or myabe
it's something wrong with the MySQL library?

Comments?
