I think you set MySQL as a Service if you're using XP or 2000 Srv that's the
way I use it.
and of course you can start it from the DOS console. But is better run it as
a service.

You can get into mysql as you do in linux, or download MyCC or other gui for
MySQL.

You should use one og the my.cnf and put it on c:\ and disable InnoDN if
you're not using it.
