I have a Red Hat 7.2 box running MySQL 3.23 on an Athlon XP 1700 with
1 GB of RAM. I have had this box for months and it has never had a problem.

Yesterday I invoked a LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE command on a text file
with 1.5M 2-field tab-delimited varchars into an empty 2-field table and it
not only crashed MySQL , but crashed the entire Linux box as well.

Upon reboot, I found the table corrupted and cleared it, then reran the same
command except using the command-line mysqlimport syntax.

MySQL seemed behaved, using ~80-97% CPU and 29.5% memory, and loaded the
table just fine in 10m.

I'm not a member of this list so email me directly if you have questions.

Chris
