I hate to be the one to ask, but what's the subject have to do with the rest of
the message? I can't see how the two are related at all.
They are not :-( I started out using an old draft (which was never sent, because I figured it out in the meantime). Didn't want to blast away at the list once again with a "sorry, wrong subject" though...

Short question: I understand that MySQL in some circumstances may decide that it's faster to do a full table scan rather than use the index to look up values.
But I miss some information on *when* this happens. Is there some way, short of reading the source code, that one can get some more details on this subject?
