InnoDB files are created at startup. the files use all the disk you allocate to them in your my.cnf startup file.
If you want smaller InnoDB files, specify a smaller file size in your my.cnf file, but I have a feeling thats not what you want to do...

I have recently dropped a database with a big innodb table in it - but the data file (ibdata1) failed to get smaller. It's pretty big (nearly 2GB) and I'd like to reduce it if possible. Is there any way to do this?
Thx
