Try this one:
Copy share/mysql/my-medium.cnf file to /etc/my.cnf and run
"mysql_install_db" and "chown -R mysql <mysql data dir>" and "mysqld_safe"
command.
Find the mysql datadir from mysql_install_db file (line no 77 : e.g.
ldata=/var/opt/mysql)
