This is not the case in 9.10 with or without compiz. I was able to get a
borderless as well as a window mode mythtv frontend.

Bug description:
The 0.21.0+fixes19878-0ubuntu0+mythbuntu2 (weekly build) of the front-end
running on Ubuntu 8.10 (w/Compiz) seems to have a problem with the "run in
window" option, that doesn't exist on 8.04 (no Compiz).
Enabling the option, and setting the size settings, does produce a movable
window for the front-end, but it is lacking "window decorations" - no title
bar, border, etc.
Someone on IRC pointed out that you can work around the normally inconvenient
process of moving the window via the context menu and keyboard by using
alt-drag (hold down the alt key moving the window with the mouse).
