Ghost Riders suggestion worked for me. Symptoms were that lircd was loading correctly, irw worked correctly, but the remote (MCE USB) would not work in MythTV. Exiting MythTV frontend, restarting lirc, and restarting Myth would get the remote working. Completely removing inputlirc fixed the issue.
