this works if you select devinput and select the usb input for the
remote.

  lirc not starting

Status in “lirc” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: lirc

  i have installed the lirc package and selected the windows media center 
remotes (all) option and then rebooted to activate the lirc kernel module and 
lirc didn't work.
   
  when i tried to start it manually gets message.

  sudo /etc/init.d/lirc restart
  find: ‘/sys/devices/virtual/rc/’: No such file or directory
   * Stopping remote control daemon(s): LIRC                               
[fail] 
   * Loading LIRC modules                                                  [ OK 
]

  this is in maverick development 
  works fine in lucid.
