Public bug reported: I wasted quite a bit of time trying to get HDMI audio configured in mythTV only to discover that hdmi audio is not enabled by default in recent kernels.
My onboard video chipset is the radeon HD3200. I was doing a fresh install using mythbuntu-12.04.3-desktop-amd64.iso Since mythbuntu key audience is HTPC, hdmi audio should be enabled by default, or prompt the user to enable it during setup. ie radeon.audio=1 should be set http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1924514&page=3 go to: /etc/default/grub and change GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash" to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash radeon.audio=1" then: sudo update-grub ** Affects: mythbuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: audio hdmi radeon -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Mythbuntu Bug Team, which is subscribed to Mythbuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1265579 Title: HDMI audio disabled by default for radeon video driver Status in Mythbuntu, Ubuntu derivative focused upon MythTV: New Bug description: I wasted quite a bit of time trying to get HDMI audio configured in mythTV only to discover that hdmi audio is not enabled by default in recent kernels.
