You have incorrect credentials in your /etc/mythtv/config.xml file. Now
I'm guessing since you removed and purged the mythtv package and
autoremoved the other packages that you didn't remove that file. I
would try the following.
[1] sudo dpkg-reconfigure mysql-server-5.5 (pay attention to the root password
you set, you will need it later)
[2] sudo dpkg-reconfigure mythtv-database
[3] sudo dpkg-reconfigure mythtv-common
