It's times like this I wish I could code...sigh. But I agree with Isaac, having a patch like this would completely eliminate all problems with xmame compatibility between versions. (or any other emulator for that matter) Yes, it would mean the user would have to take a more active role in maintaining their emulator, and xmame has a LOT of options to look after, but I can only assume that if you're using a proper monitor (and not the crazy VGA-Component HDTV mishmash I'm using now) it's rather easy to get xmame working to your liking. Maybe xmame gets a few extra options, for the catver.ini for example. Or maybe you could add a catver.ini for every emulator. Obviosly some of these would have to be self-maintained, but it would be extremely handy... I really like the idea of being able to add emulators manually, having a list of them, each one has a command line, maybe a catver.ini, a rom directory, screenshots directory...any other ideas? Again, I can't really help with the coding...I could donate gmail addresses I guess... but that seems so...September... ;-)
