It would look much nicer, and be more
consistent, if the OSD were sized according to the screen/window size
rather than being tied to the video view.  Speaking for
videoout_quartz, it would be easy to do this as an overlay.  Maybe the
driver could ask the OSD, captions, etc. to draw into an ARGB buffer?

If it goes this way, then we'd lose the ability to blend nicely into the
video. I really like that. =)

1) So do I.

2) I think some graphics APIs can blend with overlays.
   Apple's Quartz can, and I suspect it is possible in OpenGL.
