Yeah, I think I agree, much to my disappointment. I've decided it isn't worth my time, mainly because they'll still charge an arm and a leg for the modification, and I fail to see why I should spend my hard-earned free time improving their bottom line when they aren't interested in offering a truly open solution to the problem of getting high-def satellite into a computer. I'm not a free software zealot, in that I use lots of non-free software all the time (e.g., XP, video games, TurboTax), but I don't generally put my time into improving those: they're products I pay for and therefore simply expect to *work* without any effort on my part.
