Long term goal should probably be to use configure generated

all the settings.pro files?

Can't guarantee where the mythtv sources are.

Since the plugins require that mythtv be installed first, you can guarantee the location of the share files. Mythtv could install a customsettings.pro file in $PREFIX/share/mythtv during the "make install". Then the plugins could use that to find out the original MythTV compilation flags, and cut down on redundant or incompatible configurations.
