John, I might be wrong, but I think what was being referred to here (at least the way it seems to happen on my setup) is a competition between the EPG and other OSD elements that happen to be on the screen when the EPG is selected (channel #, program info, etc) that causes the EPG to keep "blacking out" unless some EPG navigation key is pressed, which causes it to re-appear. This behavior persists until those other elements have faded, then the EPG stays on the screen ok.
Anyway, thanks for the patch-- this has bugged me for a while. > Can you describe this in a bit more detail and I will take a look > > I assume you do something like > > 1) Live tv > 2) Menu > 3) EPG > 4) Move around (in same page or between pages)? > > Now what happens for it to stay visible is it that changing pages stops > working or you exit and it stays there or something else. > > Thanks > > John > > > -----Original Message----- > > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > > On Behalf Of jgmtfia Mr > > Sent: 11 March 2005 00:44 > > To: Development of mythtv > > Subject: Re: [mythtv] [PATCH] Fix PVR350 closing EPG goes to black screen > > > > > The attached patch fixes the long standing problem of the screen going > > black > > > when using a PVR350 after closing the EPG during livetv. > > > > > > It avoids the problem by turning off the OSD when the screen should be > > clear > > > using the global Alpha and only enabling when there should be something > > > displayed. > > > > Works great when exiting EPG. > > > > This problem also existed when entering the guide from live tv.
