I watch a show yesterday at 1.2x the speed (which normally runs very
smooth) but with this patch I get very jolty motion, like its slowing
down then speeding up every second. After watching the snow I noticed
on the command line that it had been spurting out prebuffering pauses
about 3 times a second... I rarely go any faster than 1.4x otherwise
its too fast to tell what ppl are saying. I think I'll revert the
patch on my system and stick with cvs for now.

try 1.6x with the prepatch method and you will see what I mean.
my display has 60Hz so a pal stream is ok until > 1.2x
then the warpfactor kicks in and every time video exceeds 30 frames you get
a big jump.
using Xv of course and audio sync.
cheers

I tried it last night but I didn't notice much difference, although
timestretch video has always been very smooth playback (for me
anyways) since it was first released. I was hoping this was the patch
that was applied just pre myth 0.17 (which then got removed/broken for
the actual 0.17 release and ever since) which gave a smooth ~30 fps
when fast forwarding at 3x, 5x, 10x, 20x, etc... Just wondering
whether it would take much to mod the patch to do this?

Did this get applied? I just built CVS tonight and am seeing what seems to be the same behavior. Live TV is trying to play at double speed. So, roughly 1/2 the time it's fast and 1/2 the time it's stuck in a prebuffer pause. Setting timestretch to 50% helps, but doesn't correct it.

Old recordings I have still playback at the proper speed. Don't have a new recording yet to check out.
