Sorry, just to clarify, Jack, your approach of writing a sync frame only for MPEG4 I frames is correct. What I meant to say is that using the V4L2 flags should be compatible with any compression hardware and format, regardless of whether it is MPEG1/MPEG2/MPEG4/H.264/WMV9/whatever, without having to try and parse the data stream itself. -Nathan
