You can try it also from svn, it is simple to compile if you have the needed
libs.
Do:
svn co http://cvs.mythtv.org/svn/trunk/mfd
svn co http://cvs.mythtv.org/svn/trunk/mfe
and you have the sources, the compile is described in the README file.

I had it running here for a while with itunes(on windows laptop)

Also cool is the web frontend where you can steer your backend mfd to play
music.
