It would be trivial to add this to mythvideo by creating an associating for, say, .stream files where the file contains the relevant connection info and the associated program is a script that launches a player like xine with this info. No code changes required. For creating and editing stream definitions an extension to mythweb might be the best place since if you're using a browser you most likely have a keyboard available.
Just curious, does this sort of what-if discussion belong in -dev or -users. I thought you were only supposed to post here if you had code or were talking about specific code.
