Yeah, but the programm switching and the other functionality (like seting up
recordings) is not part of that. And the backend is also streams the
recordings to the clients. There only had to be a option to setup a
transcoding before broadcasting it to the client.

This is exactly the purpose of mfd (digging for media data and streaming 
it to a frontend). Currently only implented for audio, i think.
