For a start, if 'wishlist' items do not belong on the ticket system why
is there an 'Enhancement' type? That only causes confusion.

IMHO if wishlist items aren't to appear in the ticket system then another
parallel tracker should be setup for them. The mailing list isn't good
enough for wish lists - they quickly get buried. We need somewhere that
current or prospective developers can browse all submitted wishes and
work on the ones they like.
There's been a wishlist in the wiki for ages.

Thanks for letting us know. This highlights a problem though - the wishlist has been in the wiki for ages yet few seem to know of it and even though you've now told me of it's existence I can't find it!
Yeah the line that contains a bullet and the words "UserWishList: Have a good idea? Add it to the list. It would be nice if you could back it up with some discussion somewhere." on the front page of the wiki is pretty darn hard to find. :-p

I'd also appreciate it if you could clear up the question of wishlist submissions to Trac and the meaning of the 'Enhancement' ticket type.

If you're have written the code for it then feel free to submit enhancement ticket otherwise don't.
