I'll keep the list updated on my progress!
It would also be nice to have this episodic ability for files on a
harddrive.
What do you mean? Ability to see Myth recordings on the filesystem by
title? If so, check out mythlink.sh (in 0.18 versions) or mythrename.pl
(with or without the "-link") argument (in SVN) which ships in the
contrib directory. I use it to make 6 views of my files, sorted by:
- start time / title / subtitle
- title / start time / subtitle
- recording group / title / start time / subtitle
- category / title / start time / subtitle
- title / original airdate / subtitle
Makes it easy to know which ones to copy to my notebook when traveling.

I meant more for ripped/downloaded shows. The way the recordings window sorts
shows by show name and then episode would be nice to have for shows that have
been obtained outside of MythTV. ie. I download Top Gear, Fifth Gear, Hex,
and some various other shows from the UK, etc. I would like to be able to
have these organized in the same way MythTV does recorded shows. I assume
this is what you meant you wanted to add.
Another thing that came up on the users list is a way to have MythVideo ignore
a folder within a searched folder. ie a hidden file like .nomythvideo within
a folder for which to ignore all video files in.
I'm curious. Do these play fine with the "Internal" player. Why not
just import them into the Watch Recordings section and view them there?
