I'm a DD and would be happy to help out in this regard - I spoke to Matt a while ago about the reasons behind not adding it to debian proper, and as you say, it was down to licensing/legal issues. Re maintaining a package, check out the developers corner on debian.org for a starting point - the new maintainers guide would be fairly pertinent. We also have the benefit of Matt's previous packaging efforts, which will make starting out much simpler. -- Miah Gregory
