i have also 2 recordings, wich cause mythtv to crash!
i send a log later....
but not only thumbnail creation causes the crash, also viewing of the files
and preview of the files!

Ok, without the recording we won't be able to diagnose the problem. My
best guess is that this is due to the firewire recorder not properly
processing the file and leaving some junk in there that ffmpeg crashes on.
When you get another one of these files please reopen the ticket so we can
address this.
