Sounds like your theme is using a font that's not installed on your system. Then, when Myth requests the font, the font server chooses an "acceptable alternative"--which has a tendency to change depending on many factors.

So, the correct fixes would be to:
   a) install the font the theme was designed to use, or
b) modify your copy of the theme to use a font that /is/ installed on your system
