My case is the opposite. The backend runs as a non-privileged user whereas the frontend as root. However that really shouldn't matter anyway since the frontend doesn't read the ringbuffer files directly anyway.
With me "Payload Start" always comes, just at times very late. I really need to track down what's going on because my hack of increasing the retries from 4 to 30 gets really annoying. - Mark. -----Original Message----- From: MythTV [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Saturday, January 14, 2006 5:43 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [mythtv-commits] Ticket #894: DVB - Recording starts before Payload Start #894: DVB - Recording starts before Payload Start -----------------------+---------------------------------------------------- Reporter: anonymous | Owner: danielk Type: defect | Status: reopened Priority: minor | Milestone: 0.20 Component: dvb | Version: head Severity: high | Resolution: -----------------------+---------------------------------------------------- Comment (by amadare [EMAIL PROTECTED] chiphead.net): I was having this same problem myself. multiple RingBuf(*.mpg) Error: Invalid file descriptor in 'safe_read()' believe it to be a permission problem in my case. backend starts are root, frontend as non-root and the mpgs were getting written by backend with no read permission for non root. did a chmod +s on the /video/record directory and all is well in the world. -- Ticket URL: <http://svn.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/894> MythTV <http://www.mythtv.org/> MythTV EMAIL DISCLAIMER Please Note: The information contained in this message may be privileged and confidential, protected from disclosure, and/or intended only for the use of the individual or entity named above.
