There are many more EIT scanning performance problems than printing out a string a few times a second on broken channels. EIT scans will only be enabled if you check that EIT checkbox in your source configuration, or use an EIT source. I would rather just disable EIT from the default compile than make a change now to ATSC/DVB tuning.
