That is exactly what I tried. For some really weird reason it fails every time. I went through the perl script to try and narrow down the problem. I noticed that the first thing it did during the config step (installing Xebian went fine..) was do an apt-get update. I tried running this manually and it came back full of errors like the one I described. I know that the network works because I can use lynx to go to the same sites that apt-get has problems with.
I changed the sources.list locations for the debian part to the local university and it worked better, but it still failes on the Mythtv sources.
