Hey James, I've been running Myth on Gentoo for about 8 months and once I got it working it has been stable and very useable (it has earned a very high WAF)
The setup is Myth - 15.1 Epia m10000 running kernerl 2.4.24(I think) with epia patches Hauppauge pvr 350 ivtv 0.9 via binary drivers for video and mpeg2 decoding Alsa oss emulation viaexp (Via's hacked up xine) I've found Gentoo suits this kind of setup as dependencies sort themselves out (If you get the USE settings correct), and Myth "Just worked", whether the system is more optimal for begin compiled from the ground up, I can't say, but I would recommend Gentoo, particularly if you are familiar with it. YMMV Cheers Kev
