True that. Mythtv, like the open source platform it is built on, should be promoted. Don't forget it is beta software, hence the .16 release tag.
I foresee a day when mythtv is rock solid & many of the little annoyances are nailed down. That would probably be mythtv 1.2. Then, I would consider putting one together for my folks. Don't forget, you can make it so you could ssh into the box - remotely.
At that point, I would like to try selling them too - with a service contract.

Yes, Myth and the accompanying TV tuner drivers can be a pain to get set up and configured. But at least in my experience, once it's working it stays working.
Maybe this is just me, but I think we're doing a disservice to ourselves and to the Myth developers by discouraging people from setting up Myth for their non-Linux-savvy friends and family.
