I bought an antenna http://www.rca.com/product/viewdetail/1,2588,PI45474-CI209,00.html for ~$25 after pricematching to WM http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.gsp?product_id=2153142 . It was on BB and CC's website but no longer appear to be. It is "HDTV approved" and has a 3-way switch that bypasses the cable through it as well as amplifying OTA beautifully. The only downside that one might have is the switch is tiny (need to use finger nail) and you'd have to get off the couch to change between Cable and HDTV. Also, the "integrated cord" is only 3' and not as high quality as this wannabe-hdtvphile would like. OTA signal still comes in with the switch on Cable, but the cable signal does not come in at all when the OTA is amplified.

Hope this helps

Sorry for the long wait, since I'm only 5 miles away from the HDTV tower in my area (and I get >100 signal for all stations) I didn't want to endorse the antenna too much, but I just tried getting a signal that is out of my viewing area based on zap2it labs (22.7 miles) nor does it show on antennaweb.org for my location. But being a WB station I thought it should come into view OTA and after googling I found the freq, ran dtvsignal on it and got ~86, I would highly recommend this antenna!
