I thought I'd share a funny story... I've been fighting with LIRC to get it to recognize my Lola X-10 for about a week and decided to throw in the towel and get a Lite-On wireless keyboard. I bounced the idea off my wife and kids, and they seemed to be ok with using a keyboard, as long as it was wireless.
I got it today, replaced the wired keyboard and it was quite ok. Now instead of switching one button to control the TV and the Myth box, I was switching between a remote and a keyboard. >From a WAF, it was extremely low. From a grandparents point of viw, it was totally unacceptable. So, I killed two birds with one stone and solved the problems with a solution right in front of my face. I programmed my learning remote with all the keyboard commands I thought I'd ever use and voila! - I don't have a keyboard anymore, I didn't have to mess with LIRC for oh-so-many-hours to get just the right keymaps and I've got control of Myth back into the learning remote. And if I need the keyboard in an emergerncy, it's stored in a cabinet right near the TV so I can whip it out lickety-split. Myth gets cooler every day. I just thought I'd share my solution to solve a problem I see a lot of people - "I can't get LIRC working right" or "I can't get the keymaps just right." Programming a learning remote from a keyboard is about 100x easier than getting LIRC just right (IMHO). Am I missing something? Paul
